The Safari on the east coastline

I had my first “guide job”.

Well it was not an official job, since the main idea was taking some friends on a tour around the island. They asked me for a couple of tours, one is to go up in the mountain and another to the Safari Park. I didn’t mind about the park, but had to apologize not being able to take them to the mountain as I don’t feel confident taking 3 bules... What if we got lost? What if I got car problem (oh no!).

So they were excited enough that I was willing to take them to the Safari Park. We went there, I parked my car and we got the tix. I think I did my job pretty well, I gathered all the information they needed, took pictures of them with orang utan, lions, which they enjoyed so much), arranged extra tours, asked for directions, etc. And more important, I took them back and forth safely (thank God, no car problem).

The Safari was good, a lot of good stuff, and they had good shows too, tho too patronizing, like they don’t consider that a lot of the visitors are not 5 year olds. But it was well managed, a lot to complete (like the Marine park), lots of room for development.

So that went well. Lots of good stuff, for them and for me. For me I got free tix and free supper, they even reimbursed my gasoline generously. It was fun!

When doing good is hard to do..

It’s that time of the year when I was supposed to donate blood (after more than 3 months). I lined up at the counter, waiting to have my blood pressure checked.

100/80. Too low, so I was refused (again). Oh well..

My mind went to a friend who just died from an accident. Wondered if only the doctors could harvested his organs... I’m not going into any debate of what the family would think, what should and shouldn’t be done. Simply reminded of a scene from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ when the senior doctor insisted the newly dead youngster’s organs should be harvested, so that way at least his death was not a waste…

Again, not judging whether his life (and his death) was a waste, but the possibility of benefiting when one has met his deadline and has nothing else to offer.
